About the Art
Recycled patterns disappear behind opaque oil paint and reappear through transparent acrylic wash. Eternal flames emerge in the facets of jewels which reflect and transfix.
Harper’s precision produces gems that will give even Cartier a run for their money. We love how the facets of her jewels highlight her thoughtful choice of repurposed and recycled materials.
We love these brilliant pops of color on any neutral wall. Buy three for a DIY triptych with a wow factor!
About the artist
S.P. Harper paints and sculpts gemstones using recycled materials. By mixing the classical tradition of still-life painting with modernism, she synthesizes historical and contemporary styles. By reforming and re-employing, reducing, reusing and upcycling, her work becomes Ecocentric (also known as Neo Materialism). She is inspired by her grandfather, who was a diamond cutter before becoming a conductor for Pacific Electric Red Cars.
What begins as refuse is repurposed, transforming base materials into noble objects.”
