About the Art

What the artist saysMy paintings portray the shape of shadows and the simple beauty of flowers.  The goal is to show how the organic, fragile nature of Earth and the human-made world coexist through color, shape and light.
Why we like itLaura’s lines are sharp, her shadows are bold, but her color-blocked flowers are surprisingly delicate.
Where we hang itThis work is a conversation starter, so hang it anywhere visitors can admire it.

About the Artist

Laura Welshans
Laura Welshans has always been a creator. With her “Flores de Mexico” series, she abstracts flowers by focusing on the simple silhouette of the objects, using a limited palette to create well-defined shapes within large negative spaces, applying multiple layers for thick textural elements. Her goal is to show how the organic nature of the Earth and the human-made world coexist through color and shape. Laura has exhibited within numerous juried group shows and her paintings are included in numerous private and corporate collections.  Born in St. Louis, she currently resides in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“I am a minimalist; inspired by the visual world with a focus on the simple silhouette of the object.”
