About the Artist
Laura Welshans
Laura Welshans has always been a creator. With her “Flores de Mexico” series, she abstracts flowers by focusing on the simple silhouette of the objects, using a limited palette to create well-defined shapes within large negative spaces, applying multiple layers for thick textural elements. Her goal is to show how the organic nature of the Earth and the human-made world coexist through color and shape. Laura has exhibited within numerous juried group shows and her paintings are included in numerous private and corporate collections. Born in St. Louis, she currently resides in Little Rock, Arkansas.“I am a minimalist; inspired by the visual world with a focus on the simple silhouette of the object.”
