About the Art

What the artist saysMy abstracted botanicals are often painted on flat canvases with exposed torn edges – like a swatch taken from nature, threads hanging loose, its silhouette not exactly square. I want the viewer to step into the work and feel the light on their face and the swirling darkness of colors under their feet.
Why we like itThomas’ raw edge canvases invoke the psyche and the way in which it interacts and grows within a landscape. With this slightly distorted shape, the viewer can step into the work’s depicted environment.
Where we hang itThomas’ vibrant and textured maximalist canvases stand on their own--even a work as small as this will command any room.

“Through a blend of unique techniques and observations of color influenced by chronic aura migraines, I seek to create poignant artifacts of the landscape that serve as records of our time, weaving together threads of loss, exploration, nostalgia, and the delicate balance between truth and illusion in our ever- changing world.”
