About the Artist
Anitra Lavanhar
Anitra Lavanhar is an award-winning fine art photographer and photography teacher currently living and working out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anitra calls herself an “anthro-photographer” as she merges her backgrounds in cultural anthropology and the arts, observing unnoticed beauty within and around us to create new images through familiar landscapes, revitalizing her subjects using multiple exposures, graphic urban environments and creative portraiture. Her work has been exhibited nationally and can be found in numerous personal and corporate collections. In addition to photographer, she is also an instructor of White Crane Silat, an Indonesian martial art that she has practiced for over thirty five years.“From wide-angle landscapes and architectural scenes to close-up details captured with a macro lens, my goal is to compose a frame, a moment, that is both familiar and unique, thought provoking and inspiring.”
