About the Art
What the artist saysMy earliest memories aren’t of people or places, but of colors, patterns, shapes and what they made me feel.
Why we like itSafransky’s gestural brush strokes celebrate the interplay of color, light and form. We love the contrast of billowy watercolor and sharp lines.
Where we hang itThis work is large and commands your full attention, so hang it solo, centered above the couch, fireplace, or bed frame.
About the Artist
Mara Safransky
Based in Portland, OR, Mara works across a variety of mediums including paint, pastel, and fiber-based sculpture. Strongly influenced by the work of the Abstract Expressionists, she uses color, shape, and movement to engage viewers in a subjective, freely-associative experience.“I create each piece with the intent that viewers layer their memories and experiences atop my own; that each will divine personal significance that is distinct and meaningful.”
