About the Art
What the artist saysThis series works through the process of letting memories come into focus and quickly allowing them to fade into the background. A burst of colorful recollection and then a choice to not let it simmer. Allowing the memory to take space but not linger for attention.
Why we like itChrissy’s chosen medium is expressive and spontaneous, her composition wonderfully uninhibited. The layered, textured interactions fluctuate playful and sophisticated, capturing a fleeting feeling rather than trying to represent something literally.
Where we hang itThis work is perfect for a home office, where its bold colors and abstract forms ignite and inspire creativity.
About the Artist
Chrissy Shrider
Brooklyn-based artist Chrissy Shrider received her BFA from Parsons School of Design before taking a hiatus from her artistic practice. She returned to painting during the pandemic, using the time as an opportunity to reconnect with her work. Through an intuitive approach to painting, Shrider explores childhood memories, personal experiences, and the emotions associated with specific moments in time. Her work draws on the fluid and often fragmented nature of memory, using layered colors and whimsical imagery to interpret and revisit the past. The resulting paintings are playful, dreamlike compositions that reflect on memory, nostalgia, and personal experience.“I focus on memory recollection by creating colorful abstractions presented as visual daydreams.”
