About the Art

What the artist saysI introduce color through organic pools of pigment which overlap, interact, and spill past the boundaries of my lines, symbolize the push and pull of our imperfect alignment within the ever-changing boundaries and expectations of society.
Why we like itCourtney’s work presents a playful dichotomy: her minimalist process generates dreamy abstractions that bloom freely beyond the boundaries of her lines.
Where we hang itThis piece would work best as part of a larger gallery wall.

About the Artist

Courtney Khail
Working out of Athens, Georgia, Courtney Khail studied visual arts at John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Scientific Illustration from The University of Georgia's Lamar Dodd School of Art. Drawing inspiration from nature, science, and Greek mythology, Khail utilizes flowers, color, gestural lines, and personal anecdotes to weave her visual narratives, addressing themes of influence, religion, and womanhood.

In 2017 her first solo exhibition opened at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and in 2018 the Georgia Council for the Arts commissioned Khail to create a custom painting for then First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Deal. Khail’s work can be found in collections across the United States as well as exclusive collections for various companies and hotels including the Rosewood Baha Mar Resort, Whole Foods, and the Hotel del Coronado.

“My work celebrates the convergence of the traditional with female empowerment, using the symbolism of flowers to create paintings that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.”
